NY-3 CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE CALLS ON STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO SWIFTLY AND THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATE PSEG-LI RESPONSE TO TROPICAL STORM ISAIAS

New York’s 3rd Congressional District, August 10, 2020 –  Congressional Candidate George Santos is calling on the State Attorney General to conduct a swift and thorough investigation of PSEG-LI’s response to Tropical Storm Isaias.

“It is not enough to simply look into the extensive power outages that occurred throughout Long Island and left many powerless for almost a week. We must find out why PSEG-LI was ill-equipped and unprepared to resolve these outages quickly. This was a massive failure by PSEG,” says Santos.

Last week, Long Island experienced almost 430,000 outages after Tropical Storm Isaias hit the region. People throughout Long Island also contacted PSEG numerous times to only receive tentative dates as to when their power would be restored. Many are still without power despite PSEG promising that their service would be restored Sunday night. The outage in Long Island also reinforces the need for the U.S. to update its power grid and outdated infrastructure.

“We are a first-world country living with third-world infrastructure. Long Island suffered more power failures than any other region in New York State. As Congressman, I would fight to reinvest in U.S. infrastructure so that no one would be left stranded for days without power and electricity,” says Santos.
