NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERAL SEEKS TO DISSOLVE NRA IN LAWSUIT

New York’s 3rd Congressional District, August 6, 2020 –The Attorney General of New York, Letitia James, filed a lawsuit seeking the dissolution of the NRA. The Attorney General claims that the NRA is “fraught with fraud and abuse.” Organizations should be held accountable to the law when the law is broken. However, not only is dissolution a massive overreach, it is an attack on both our First and Second Amendment rights that we as Americans hold dear.

It is clear that what is happening here is more politics than true enforcement of the law. If the Attorney General cared about true fraud and abuse, she should look no further than the Southern Poverty Law Center and their extremely questionable accounting and offshore account dealings. Accusations of fraud have been levied against both organizations, but there has been no call by the Attorney General to dissolve the SPLC. Why? Because they don’t represent a political threat. America was built on the foundation of law and order; unfortunately, Democrats throughout New York have abandoned those fundamental principles.

“When our political officials attempt to misuse the law for political gains, we the people must speak out loud and strong. Our Constitution should not be used as a political weapon as it is the foundation that our country was built upon. We must be steadfast in calling out any abuses as we encounter them,” says NY-3 Congressional Candidate George Santos.
