DEMOCRATIC “DEFUND THE POLICE” MOVEMENT IS IN RHETORIC ONLY

New York’s 3rd Congressional District, September 25, 2020 – Democratic politicians throughout the country have latched onto rhetoric that supports defunding the police. They believe there is rampant systemic racism throughout our police stations, and the only way to combat this problem is by defunding law enforcement.

However, when looking at the top 34 cities throughout the country, 22 of them, including Louisville and Atlanta, have either kept their police budget the same from the previous year or have actually increased their police budget altogether.

“Democrats say one thing, but do another. Their words and actions do not match up. When they say defund the police, this inflammatory rhetoric is aimed at pleasing a dangerous far left base. When it comes time to putting their money where their mouth is, they crumble. Although they won’t say it publicly, Democrats fear the far left. One-time moderate politicians are scared the mob will come for them next. To their credit, the Democratic party is good at one thing, and one thing only, being weak in the face of opposition,” says NY-3 Congressional Candidate George Santos.

Although most big city police budgets have either remained steady or gone up, crime in these cities has risen exponentially due to anti-police sentiment. Louisville, a city run by Democrats, is currently burning. Protests that are unmatched with any resistance have led to a very dangerous situation on the streets. Louisville’s police budget has remained steady from last year, yet crime is up tremendously. The issue in these cities is not only crazy rhetoric from politicians, but it is also rampant money mismanagement. New York City is also going through a budget crisis where the Mayor himself as well as all his staffers are being furloughed through the rest of the month.

“Either way you slice it, new leadership is needed in liberal big cities now. We must take back our cities from the far left and implement policies that back the blue and are fiscally responsible. Let us send a clear message on November 3rd that we want to live prosperously and peacefully,” says NY-3 Congressional Candidate George Santos.
