New York’s 3rd Congressional District, September 25, 2020 – President Trump has nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to fill the Supreme Court seat left vacant by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This will be the third Supreme Court nomination made by the President in his first term in office.
To date, President Trump has appointed over 200 judges. He has also appointed 53 federal appeals court judges, the most to date than any recent President at the same point in their presidency.
“Thanks to President Trump, the court system will enjoy a conservative bench for decades to come. The days of activist judges legislating from the bench are over. Our courts are meant to be a check on the other two branches of government, yet the Democrats use the courts as a weapon for their extremist agenda. We need four more years of a Conservative majority in the Senate and four more years of President Trump to continue cementing their legacies through court appointments,” says NY-3 Congressional Candidate George Santos.
Like the Brett Kavanaugh hearings and Neil Gorsuch hearings, the hearings for Amy Coney Barrett are bound to get ugly. In a preview of what is likely to come in her Supreme Court nomination hearings, Judge Coney Barrett was berated by Democrats over her Catholic faith when nominated by the President for the seventh circuit Court of Appeals. In that hearing, Dianne Feinstein the Democratic ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, alluded to her faith by saying, “And I think in your case, professor, when you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you. And that’s of concern.”
“Democrats will do whatever they can to tear down Judge, and hopefully soon to be, Justice Coney Barrett. Republicans and Conservatives alike must stand strong in the face of these vile attacks. Judge Coney Barrett would become just the 5th women to serve on the Supreme Court, but the Democrats will do whatever it takes to tear her down. The supporting women mantra only counts when you are a Democrat woman that supports the lefts extremist agenda. It is clear the left will stop at nothing to get what they want, but at the end of the day it will be refreshing to look at the Supreme Court and see yet another Trump appointment sitting on the bench,” says NY-3 Congressional Candidate George Santos.
